This gîte is part of a historic rural village bursting with heritage and symbolism.
Renovation began in late 2008 to create a modern, functional gîte. It provides eighteen beds with dining room, kitchen and lounge (which can be converted into a six-bed guestroom). The bathrooms, showers and toilets reflect its size. A little history: The Ajiste gîte in Aubechies stands just beside the beautiful Saint-Géry Church. It probably dates back to the 11th century. The building was once a farm owned by the monks of Saint-Ghislain. As well as the farm, the fathers managed breeding ponds and a mill. After they left, it was rented out in the 18th century. When the areas merged in the late 1970s, the building was abandoned. It later began a new life as a holiday home with the name Ajiste dit "du Prieuré" Gîte. The gîte is now up and running.
