It was in 1994 that the non-profit-making association, “The Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia”, was christened. Ever since, it has been diffusing, through a mosaic of villages with character and wonderful surrounding landscapes, the image of a rural Wallonia to be preserved and developed.
Synonymous, since its creation, with quality, conviviality, sociability and sharing, the Association today heads a network of 24 approved villages for which it spurs projects and activities that are as diversified as they are innovative, with the help of the inhabitants of those villages, the public authorities and the local associations.
Whether it’s a question of specific events or actions of a long-term nature, they draw strength from the element that gives all these awe-inspiring places a unique character: a remarkable rural heritage.
Each village conveys this heritage via its various components, which include the buildings and the landscape of course, but also the local traditions and the culinary flavours.
Our Association’s website is an open door not only to the network’s villages, their players and their activities, but also to the Most Beautiful Villages network’s projects and prospects.
It’s another way of discovering Wallonia - more intimate, more subtle.
Please feel free to let us know your opinions, your likes and your dislikes, and we will endeavour, as far as is humanly possible, to take account of them.
Enjoy your discoveries!
